Aunt Bea's Barbecue
Like many things in Mount Airy North Carolina, Aunt Bea’s is named after one of the lovable characters on the popular TV show, Andy Griffith. When we arrived, there was a long line of cars for takeout. Once inside we could tell that a lot of regulars eat there, everyone seemed to be on a first name basis, so we figured it had to be good. If you are looking for a diner experience this is not the place. It is more of a burger joint. There aren’t any frills but they have a good variety on the menu. Aunt Bea’s offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and have an ice cream counter. We had the barbeque with the southern vinegar based sauce and it was very good. Beside the barbeque and burgers you can also get eggs and cheese, county ham, tenderloins and many other choices for breakfast or dinner. The restaurant was clean (we saw staff even clean out in the parking lot) and the service was good.
